Checking in ...
For those of you familiar with our schedule, it's madness about now. We've got 12 locations at the New York Renaissance Faire.
We're headed into weekend #3 of 8. This is traditionally when the traffic begins to pick up, if the weather is good. The forecast for the upcoming weekend is gorgeous.
After New York, we have 8 weekends of The Texas Renaissance Festival. We've got a major food booth, a fruit shop, a full-hook-up campground, games, and a restaurant there. There are 13 days between the two shows, but that is not enough to get a big show open. What this means is that Phil and I get NY open together, and I get all of the employees in place and trained. Then right after Labor Day (our biggest weekend here), I drive to Houston to begin opening all of our businesses there. Phil stays at the New York Faire to run all of our NY businesses. We have our 5th wheel trailer set up at NY permanently, and an apartment at the Houston show, so it's relatively easy for us to be in 2 places at once.
Phil closes up the NY faire, and joins me at TRF just before opening day.
While this may seem a bit extreme, it has the hidden blessing of allowing us to make our year's income in about 5 months of intense work.
Nice work if you can get it ...
Back to work I go!
